Franco Albini
In the northern outskirts of Milan where the urban cityscape meets countryside, Franco Albini developed his neo-rationalist designs characterized by distinctive lines merged with Italian traditional craftsmanship and new forms of modernism. After high school, Albini attended the Polytechnic University of Milan, graduating in 1929. He kicked off his career as a Gio Ponti professional worker and employee. Over the years, many of his rattan designs have become very famous, like the Margherita and Gala chair, shown today in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). Albini won three Compasso d’Oro awards, the most prestigious in all of Italy, during his career.
